So Quiet Without Phylly and Jerry

My goodness, it is SO QUIET in this house, you could hear a gnat breathe (you thought I was going to say something else, didn't you?).  Phylly and I laugh so much, the house feels alive when she is here.

I came up this morning and worked on Route 66 for about an hour.  I have decided to baste one row of the quilt each day.  That will take me 4 more days.  Then I will roll it all the way back up to the top, and I will quilt every block with its own patterns.  For that job, I may just get a couple blocks done a day.

Right now, I am going to start constructing my new jacket.  I will either look like a dart board or a clown in this fabric.  We will see.  It is the one on the right with all the circles.

YAYZER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got an email from Jill at Fabulous Fit.  She said my new dress form might be done TODAY!  NOW, I will get excited.  YIPPEE, KIYOOOOO, KIYAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!  (I have NO idea how to spell that!)

This is going to be a great week!  Phylly was here -- my favorite cafe opened this past weekend -- we are getting new neighbors that we already sort of know because the husband sold us a Mule ATV (?) several years ago -- AND!!! my new dress form will be done this week.  Plus!, I almost forgot this great "new thing":  I found out where to find the cheat words for Scrabble.  Now, I know how everyone finds those crazy words to spell that are not even in my dictionary.  Watch out, Scrabble friends!

It is 3:50 on Tuesday afternoon, and I have been working since the above paragraph done this morning at 8 AM until now on this jacket.  I took pictures BUT keep in mind the blouse is not done.  Notice all the pins holding it together.  I have to press the darts, press and understitch the facing, put in buttonholes, sew on buttons, put in the sleeves, put on the pocket and hem it.  All of that tomorrow.  Not sure about the pocket.  I think it does look a little better than the clown pants above, and -- THANKS to Phylly -- the fit is great!

Jerry has to have surgery this Thursday for the three places on his face that are carcinomas.  I will be here with him all next week, and then I have to go to our other house and prepare for the major foundation repair at his Mother's house in Kingfisher.  It will take from three to five days to drill all the holes through the floors inside the house.  Day one is April 2nd.  Then I will have to stay there until I get all the pad and carpet and flooring back down and the walls and trim repaired.  I have a few friends there now and Jerry's Aunt Betty Jane lives a few blocks away, so I enjoy being there.

Jerry is supposed to be there with me the first week of April.  I keep telling him it will be a vacation for him.  Yes, he will have his computer and his cell phone, but he will be in a different town and a different house.  No carpet, no pad, no TV.  Hardly any furniture at all.  It's kind of fun -- like camping out.

I just remembered, I sold his bed the last time I was there!  I have to go out in the attic right now and grab a blow up mattress ......................................... Okay, I'm back.  I got two of them.  Maybe we can put one on top of the other so it will be higher off the floor.  I bought these years ago when the grandkids were little, and we have never even opened the boxes.  I figured they would come in handy someday.

I am drinking the fabulous iced tea that Phylly made while she was here.  I figured out why mine always tastes like water -- I dilute it about 5 to 1.  Phylly poors it from the pan on top of ice and that is it.  It tastes like restaurant tea.  I should NOT be drinking it.  I am not allowed to drink caffeine after noon or it will keep me awake all night.  It was already made though, and it looked so good, and it reminds me of Phylly.  Hope Laurie wants to play Scrabble into the wee hours tonight!

I've got to go jump on my trampoline and do my leg/thigh machine and my arms.  I miss Jerry.  It isn't very exciting to cook for just myself.

Hugs, Joy

  1. My tea isn't as bad for you as you think. Actually, I filled the pitcher half full of water before I poured the tea in it. So, you are only getting half as much caffeine as you think you did.
We had so much fun this weekend. I am totally spoiled. Now I have to go back to my everyday world, work and grandkids, with a little bit of sewing thrown when I can. I am so blessed to have you for a friend.
