Foundation Repair, Service and Tacos

Good evening.  I am getting started very late today on my daily post because I have been at my MIL's house with Jerry helping with the foundation repair.  UNBELIEVABLE job!  I have pics, but I cannot post them until I get back home.  It was $11,000, but there were about 8 guys, tons of equipment and it took 3 days.  The house has about 3 dozen holes in the cement.  We have to be very careful where we walk until morning because the cement won't be set until then.  I told Jerry I didn't know what would happen when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the br.  Thank goodness I brought several night lights with me.  Jerry has to sleep on the couch because he doesn't want us to go bother Aunt Betty Jane who lives a few blocks away.  She offered her extra bedroom to us tonight.

I had a nightmare morning with emails back and forth to Fabulous Fit.  They are the most unreasonable company I have ever dealt with.  I don't know how they got all those good reviews.  My best guess is that nobody purchased the $1200 model I have with the user UNfriendly base that comes with it.  My husband is going to have to build a base for me so I can work with the dress form without hurting my back and shoulders lifting it off and on, off and on, off and on AND having to reach up to put clothes on her because she is so high.  Very frustrating.  Fabulous Fit doesn't seem to care one iota about my frustrations, and they won't allow me to return the base or the form.  All I can say to any potential buyers is BEWARE!

I'm sure everyone is sick of hearing about it, so I will change the subject.

Speaking of customer service -- Power Lift Foundation Repair is the company that did my MIL's house this week.  About 8 guys, tons of heavy metal equipment, cement, mud, dirt and dust all over the place, and they were very well-mannered, neat and very careful about the clean-up.  NOT ONLY did they clean up the mess they made, they were scraping up the glue left on the cement from the carpet pad removal.  They scraped, swept with a broom and then vacuumed with a shop vac.  I was VERY impressed.  Before they ever started they covered up EVERY WALL IN THE HOUSE with giant sheets of plastic to keep the walls clean.  AWESOME!  I would use them again and recommend them to everyone!  Several smoked, but not in the house, and not one single cigarette butt on the lawn!  Then the boss came in to ask if everything was satisfactory.  I thought he would want to be paid, but he never said so.  I asked him if he wanted us to pay him, and he said, "Oh, yes, I am supposed to collect."  Then I asked if I could put it on American Express so I could get 2% back, and he said that was fine too but I would have to wait until tomorrow.  They also cleaned off the ENTIRE driveway and front porch not only with brooms but with a hose.  Aunt Betty Jane said she was so happy for me that I FINALLY got good service from somebody.  I think I will write a letter of praise to the company so they can use it later if they wish for advertising.

Just one more point:  I did not ASK these guys to do any of that.  They just did it.

Nothing unusual happened today -- well, the great service did, lol -- except for the poor young wife/mother that was barely moving while walking into KFC/Taco Bell with her husband and little girl tonight.  She was holding the side of her stomach like each step was really hurting her.  Her husband ran up to the door in front of her to let the little girl in the store, and then he came back to help hold his wife as she walked.  She must have just had surgery.  I couldn't figure out WHY he didn't let her stay in the car.  When we got inside KFC, it because obvious.  He did not speak English.  She was at the counter ordering their dinner.  He was standing across the room.    After she ordered, she turned and went out to waddle back to the car.  If he had been MY husband, I would have said, "LEARN how to say "chicken" or "taco" and get your rear in there and order YOURSELF!!!

Jerry wants to watch a movie, and this laptop is all we have to watch one on.  Gotta go.

Hugs, Joy

  1. It is so nice to find people that know what customer service is all about. FF could take a lesson from the PowerLift people.
