New Video, but....

I made a new video today, but just like last time, I can't seem to get it converted to something that will download in less than 4 hours.  Before Jerry FIXED my computer, I had chosen some mystery set of figures in RealPlayer that converted my videos perfectly in just a minute, and then I could upload them to You Tube in 15 to 30 minutes.  The movie I made today uploaded to You Tube for FOUR HOURS, and still was only 50% uploaded.  I cancelled it.  Since then, I have converted it more times than Uncle Ben's rice!!!, but it still wants to be the size of my entire computer's contents!  AARRGGHH!

I have googled the simple question, "How do you convert a digital camera video to upload to You Tube", and I have gotten videos showing me everything BUT that.  At this hour of the day, my feet are quite swollen, so I can't sit here unless my feet are up.  Have you ever noticed that when your feet are up on a chair, and you are sitting sideways at your computer, that it is really hard to be comfortable?  My keyboard is cocked at an angle and practically falling off the table as I type on it.  PLUS, my elbow is poking in one side of my fat belly, and that is a HUGE No-No according to my typing teacher, Janie Bennett.

And my point -- if there is one -- is this.  I would like to sit here and look at videos or read to try to learn how and what to do so I can do these videos again, but I am full from dinner and tired and the cockeyed keyboard is NOT helping.  Every kid from 5 years and up can figure out how to do it, so I should be able to -- right???

Well, I can't!

Not only that, nobody showed up for construction duty today.  The texture guy was supposed to be here yesterday, but never showed, and then today, but never showed.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes, the memories are all coming back to me now.  The joys of having contractors come and go as they please into our home to do a job that should take two weeks, but it takes them SIX MONTHS -- OR MORE -- and before it is over you nearly strangle your husband -- or better yet, the contractors!!!

My mother always says these things are TESTS given to us by God, and if we don't PASS the test, we have to keep taking it over and over and over....  I have a real bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that I will ALWAYS flunk this one!

Let's hope I will be a little fresher in the morning, and I will start again trying to figure out this puzzle.  Where are the computer nerds in your family when you need them.  Actually, my computer nerd brother has recently become a preacher.  I hate to call him anymore about computer issues.  Besides, whenever I did call him in the past, he liked to torment me with long, hard-to-understand word formations strung together in impossible-to-decipher codes that if I had been able to somehow untangle, I would have been smart enough not to need him in the FIRST PLACE!!!!

Okay.  Gotta go to bed and get these feet up.  I'll be back tomorrow.

Hugs, Joy

  1. Hee! Hee! Hee! You remember that I still can't figure out Photoshop Elements. I bet Joshua could do it! You'll figure it out tomorrow.

I got the budget done. I was going to work on it until 8:00 pm and then spend a couple of hours sewing. But I just decided that I might as well get it done and then I can sew tomorrow night.

  2. I've never used RealPlayer for video editing/conversions etc. But if you run Windows 7, you might want to try taking the video into Windows Movie Maker, and then I think you can change the file size in WMM (it's been a while since I've used that program), and then use their Upload to YouTube feature. There are also lots of programs that do not much else than convert one format to another to change file sizes. I've got (and used) Cucusoft. I think it was a $49 purchase. Open the file in Cucusoft, then render in a different format...then upload to YouTube.

Right now, I'm using Sony Vegas for both editing and converting to different file types/sizes. There's a bit of a learning curve to use Vegas, but as with anything, once you know how to do it, then...it's always easier.

And, your right, every six year old kid knows how to do this stuff faster than we ever will. LOL.
    Today's another day....Glenda

  3. Well, I finally broke down and sent RealPlayer another $40.00 so I can do what I need to. I am uploading the video to You Tube now, so we will see how it turns out. You Tube says it won't take rv format, but ALL of my videos on You Tuber are rv format.

Thanks Glenda for all the tips. Jerry and I downloaded two more free converters last night, and neither one was any good. I'll stick with Real Player. Actually, PS Premiere is supposed to do it too.
