To Pamela Ann and Leda

Hello to my two new friends, Pamela Ann and Leda.   I am TRYING to figure out how to talk with you through Google, but I can't seem to figure it out.  I filled out some form and put a picture on Google and it was supposedly going to allow me to contact you, but nothing.  If you two know how to work it, I am Joy Bernhardt.

Pamela Ann:  YES, I would love to know all the jewelry tips and tricks that you know.  So far, I tried to make one little loop with the round nose pliers.  I just received a big package from Fire Mountain today, so maybe I will spend some time following the teacher tomorrow.

Leda:  Your red dress is GORGEOUS!  I'm so excited to "meet you".  The new best "trick" I have ever learned is to use the Steam-A-Seam 2 LITE on the neckline edge BEFORE folding it over.  You can use a facing, or a binding or nothing.  Once you iron the SAS down, the edge will stay very stable while you sew it.  Hope that helps.  You said you perform.  What do you do?

If either of you wants to say something to me, please post it in the COMMENTS on the CURRENT DAY post.  I don't know if someone posts a question to an older post because Blogger doesn't notify me.

Hugs, Joy

  1. I didn't know that you weren't notified of posts to older blogs. Sometime back you talked about your Ivey pots and I replied that I thought that they were heart leaf phildadendrum (sp?). Might be English Ivey but I really think it isn't. The philadendrum is a very hearty vine and can easily be rooted in water. I have a little glass vase hanging above my kitchen sink with philadendrum in it that has been there for years. I just take it out and give it root cut and put it back. Sometimes I have to cut off some of the shoots too. jtl

  2. Joy, I will try to see how I can get my personal email address to you,w/o putting it on the net here
I do like how you made that V neck T ( I was using Pamela's perfect T method) plus the tip to use simple baking parchment when using anything that could get on a good iron, why didnt I think of that? I use it almost every day for roasting vegetables! I am going to see how I can do this. Thanks for the tips, I will try that method soon~ What kind of tools did you purchase for jewelry making?? Mine are German made, will get the name to you, I could not be w/o these tools, also did you look at WigJig as a jig for making findings really easily?? I have 2 jigs, I use them ALL the time to make my own findings which keeps the cost down as they are a lot higher these days if you use gold or silver~ PBB

  3. I googled wig jig, and it took me to a website. Wow! A ton of stuff there. Still not sure what the tool is but will investigate when not on my iPad..

  4. Joy,
This is the only way I can figure this out. let me know about what time (CST) you plan to be on your blog, and if I know ahead I will put my personal email address on it,( then I can take it off, b/c I do not want the world to have it ok?)? Re: wig jig, look at what the different jigs can do, you wrap your wire (gold/silver or whatever) you are using over the pegs on the board, ( they tell you how to create the shapes you want, )
It is a HUGE money saver but more importantly you get as close to precision as it gets w/ wire wrapping or making your findings
I have 2 jigs plus other things, if you try it,you may like it but investigate this for yourself ,not sure what level you are at
This is very easy, almost like "cheating" b/c you do not have to do all your wraps individually, non the less, you are indeed making your own things

  6. Hi Joy. I look forward to all your adventures. I have a daughter who lives in Ozark, MO (close to Lambert's), so I enjoy hearing about your trips up there. We live in NW Arkansas, so it's not too far from Ozark.

  7. Hey Joy - I have to say after viewing tons of your youtube videos - I find you entertaining and fun. You bring a whole new life to sewing/crafting. I love the tricks and tips that you share. I also love the fact that you know you don't know it all and readily admit that fact. Thanks again for being there with good information. Keep making videos and I will keep watching. Cynthia

    1. Hi Cynthia!
I can't tell you how much I needed your comment today! Some lady told me to stick to SEWING and NOT COMEDY. Huh? I've never tried comedy, and my feelings were kind of hurt. When I say things, they just pop out of my brain. They are totally unplanned, and I am not attempting "comedy". NOW, I feel a little scared to make videos. I don't want to appear to be an out-of-work comedian, lol. She was referring to the dress form video I made with my daughter, so I have made it inactive.
      Thanks again for your comment!

  9. Hello Joy,
I like a top that you wear, it has a deep cowl in a floral and a solid pink section in the centre front. You were wearing it in a youtube video in July 2016. I would love to make one like it. Can you give me some information on it please? I have been searching your videos to find you making it, but to no avail. CHEERS FROM Di in Australia

  10. Hi Joy, thanks for your reply, I found the pattern and photos. Did you make any changes to the pattern or is it just that it is correctly fitted? I think Ill give it a try.
    Cheers, Di

  13. Hi Joy! My pattern calls for single fold bias tape to be sewn to the shoulder seam to prevent stretching. How do I do that?? Please help! Sincere thanks! Sheila Jones

  14. I have NEVER used bias tape for that. Use STAY TAPE or a piece of SELVAGE. Much easier.

  15. I love your videos and each time I learn something new, even when i am watching a "rerun". Loved your explanation of satin stitching on Bernina. And using steam a seam. Wondered why my neck was always crinkling when i ironed a piece of Sas to hold down facing. If we cannot laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at. What did Jerry give you for your 67th?

  17. Hi Joy! My name is Allesha. My sister whose name is ironically, Joy, battled addiction after our father passed away a few years ago. She has 6 children all under 10. She is working on getting her life together and I wanted to give her a gift that is meaningful and would make her really happy when she opened it. Her kids mean everything to her. Sorry I m posting this publicly but I tried to send you a message on Facebook and it was difficult. I wanted to see if you would be willing to make a photo quilt for her. I’m not sure if this is something you would even be willing to do or if we can do it before Christmas? But I just wanted to bless her. I love her so much. My email is Allesha_1987@hotmail.com or you can call me (616) 322-1921

    Thank you,
