I am Mean and Don't Care About People's Feelings

Yes, it is true.

I've been told it enough times.  It MUST be true, right?

Pastor John Hagee's sermon this morning TOTALLY makes it clear WHY some people think that about me. Many people surely think it about him and his son, Matthew, and their entire family.

Pastor Hagee referred to a scripture that I love to recall when people say, "You are mean....."

Luke 6:26
WOE to you when everyone speaks well of you...

I tell myself that it shouldn't hurt my feelings that people who supposedly love me say this to me, and I try to believe that I am doing my "job" as a Christian to take a stand against evil and lies and complete Godlessness in so much of our nation.

Let me interject real fast that I am TOTALLY receptive to loving advice and Christian counseling given to me.  I am a person that can take advice -- good or bad -- sort it out -- decide what to keep on file and what to toss out.  Terry and I talk all the time about what we have learned from others' advice, and we treasure the advice from each other.

WAKE UP AMERICA!  Take a stand my Christian friends!  Don't let the Government take away our freedom to worship God the way we choose.  They certainly worship Godlessness the way they choose!

I am very outspoken to friends, family and strangers about my beliefs.  Jesus is Lord of my heart and mind -- Lord of our home -- Lord of our business -- and, it is my utmost desire to please Him in my words and actions.

Do I always accomplish it?  I certainly do not.  Sometimes, I say things to people that I wish I could suck back into my brain and ERASE.  Words can't be taken back though.  Thank God, they can be forgiven.

I think it is sinful and dangerous to let the WORLD into our homes by way of the internet or the television or whatever device.  Most programs and movies available are OCCULTIC (Harry Potter), and we have to be very vigilent and careful about letting them into our "temples".  It is SHOCKING to me that parents watch that filth at all, never mind with their children right in the room.  I have been defriended for walking out of homes that have such filth on the TV.  I walked out of my own living room MANY TIMES because of the filth company decided to watch.  Years ago, a relative and his wife wanted to watch some horrible movie with Brad Pitt in it about Vampires.  They are Christians.  How can they not FEEL the evil!?  I sure could.  I left.  They had no problem with the movie.  They think I am self-righteous and have told me so.

The Bible says we should "live unto righteousness", so I suppose I should take that as a compliment.  (I Peter 2:24)

Everyone's MOUTH has a rudder, according to the Bible.  It is the tongue.  It is the hardest thing to control. My mouth is connected to my FLESH and to my SPIRIT (as is everyone's).  If I speak too fast, my spirit doesn't have time to sort out the mess I'm about to blurt out, and then I feel horrible about it later.  If I can, I try to fix it, but you certainly can't do that every time.  Sometimes, I just make the matter worse.

I heard one time that you have to say TEN GOOD THINGS to erase ONE BAD THING.

If you read my BLOG once in awhile, you know we never miss Cornerstone Church LIVE on Sunday mornings, and I often REpreach the message.  I used to REpreach it to a certain person, and I would get back the response, "Well, I interpret it differently."  Or I would quote the Bible, and I would get back the same response.

I better stop because I have a feeling most stopped reading way up there somewhere.

Just thought today's message was WONDERFUL, and you can listen to it in the Archives if you like at www.GETV.org.   (That is NOT a link.)

I truly believe that the Bible is the WORD OF GOD, and I truly believe that IF WE WOULD ALL LIVE BY IT, we would have happy, whole families -- healthy children with strong bodies and work ethics -- and a prosperous, loving, GODLY nation -- as it used to be.

And let's not forget the MAIN THING:
There is Heaven to gain,
and Hell to shun!

And if you TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH ME, then the scripture above has been fulfilled AGAIN.

I would like to say one more thing, however.  I don't say what I say to purposely hurt someone's feelings.  I say it because FAITH and TRUTH are more important than feelings.  Feelings can be very wrong, and we cannot make life's decisions by them.  I believe that TRUE LOVE FOR A FRIEND who is hurting or in a desperate situation at home requires that you tell them the truth (speaking of Bible truths) even though you know you may lose their friendship.

Hugs, Joy

  1. I really like a lot of what you said. I find, for myself, the balance between being overly direct or overly loving is to trust the Holy Spirit. I believe in the word of God as the final authority, yet there are times when I know the Lord is asking me to "halt" in sharing a truth. While other times, I know what I say to a friend will especially hurt, but I know the Holy Spirit will not leave me alone about it, and I must say it in love, and leave the rest to the Lord. Overall, I NEVER want to be the person who pushes someone away from God, and I know I need His help everyday in order to walk in grace and truth. Thank you for sharing this today!

    1. Vanessa,
That is BEAUTIFULLY said. Thank you so much for the comment, and I totally agree. I feel like MOST people would rather say nothing as not to ruffle any feathers, and I know for a fact that Jesus wasn't that way. He called a woman a dog, and he went into the temple with a WHIP. I wish someone would go into Congress with one! (Just kidding! Sort of.)

  3. Just read your blog again which I thoroughly enjoy and just read the comments on this last piece. I do believe Vanessa is right...I have found myself, in the past, jumping right in while someone is talking to me with "my story, experience, whatever" and now I wait...let them talk...and try to think of something positive to say . Not in correction or advice , which can be understood as condemning, but try to listen and wait for the HOly Spirit to help me with the wording. It is so easy to just jump right in ...but I've taken hints from my grown kids to wait..wait...wait... listen...listen...listen. The more you listen the more they will talk to you . They want to talk ..not get advice... Also, the vampire thing...it is fantasy...not to my liking or yours but some people love scary movies and that genre. What can I say?....They will not stop going because we tell them it is evil. Love your sewing advice and videos and your enthusiasm !!! Mary

    1. Yes, so true! People are HORRIBLE listeners. Some people talk incessantly, and if you try to SQUEEZE IN a comment or two, it sets them off on another tangent. Listen more. Talk less. Make mental notes for your prayer time!

  4. oh Joy, my heart just sighs right along with every word you wrote......I've been called judgemental, critical, razor-tongued, too heavenly-minded.... ☺☺☺ I too have walked out when others are glued to the screen..... I don't mind criticism either...it helps me to grow!! I used to think I am the only one in the world that tries to "cut the Word of Truth rightly"!! After reading this, I am glad to know there are others who believes that we are not to tolerate these things, but turn our backs on them. Thank you for taking a stand for what you believe. You just keep right on doing it - Jesus said He was rejected for telling them the Truth, and so we should not be shocked when we are rejected. And if there are people on your side of the world who does not like to hear it....well, this is YOUR blog, so you can rant&rave here all you want! We love you for what you are and believe as you do.....and those that don't, will fall by the wayside.... Keep looking UP!!

This is the money quote and it's exactly right. The Word of God isn't there to keep us from living our lives or having fun, it's there to keep us safe and happy. Hang in there, Joy. And I read your posts every day. keep up the great work!

    1. Thank you Brenda! It isn't easy being bold enough to speak the truth that some don't ever want to hear -- even in MY OWN supposedly "christian" family. My goal in this life is to please God, not people. Paul did it. Jesus did it. The disciples did it after His death. Christians stood for truth and righteousness at a horrible personal cost. People think they can mix new age, political correctness and tolerance with the Bible. CANNOT BE DONE! You cannot mix evil with good and truth with lies and love with hate. They repel each other!
SOMEDAY, it will be worth it all! PRAISE His HOLY name!

  7. I love reading what you have to say Joy.I agree with what you have to say. Especially about exposing our children to tv and movies. I was very strict and careful about what my Daughter (now 18 yrs) was exposed to. I have had to speak out about language to a visiting friend who was swearing in front of not only my young Daughter but her own infant! Keep doing what you're doing! X

Your post reminded me of my promise to my church meeting this week. All this week I will speak the truth. No white lies " your hair looks great", or did you made that? You are so talented, not true a lot of times it is ok to be true to yourself, more importantly to others. I am lucky I do not have a job. Its been ok.
Thank you for sharing .love your post.

  9. You are, who you are and your friends will accept you as you are...or they are not really friends. also.. I find it very hard to accept that a GUEST in my home would do something that I strenuously object to..(my brother would and my mother could not understand my anger with him).

  10. I am one of those people who chews on her foot quite frequently. I don't have a mean bone in my body, but have been misunderstood so many times. I just thank God that I have the friends I have and that they except me for the person I am. It's really hard to try to be someone you're not. Love your blogs - please keep them coming :-)

  11. Your comment on the tongue being the rudder is one of my favorite passages - James 1:26-27. I admire your courage in acting out your (our faith) because it does take courage to be Christlike, especially these days when big government wants this Christian nation to forge a different path. However, with Christ behind us and our steadfast prayers (and actions), they will not succeed!
