New Hair-Dos and New Pants and New Complaint

Princess Di, our personal beautician, came today to do my hair and Terry's hair.  Terry and I are completely overwhelmed by her generosity.  She worked her hiney off today!  She got cramps in her foot at one point.  I don't know how people can do that all day long, day after day after day!

Di spent the night last night so we started first thing this morning on me.  I wanted mine darker because my eyebrows are so dark.  Princess Di put a color on me called "COFFEE BEAN".  How PERFECT is that for me!

It is night time now and the lights are on, and this picture isn't good, but you can tell my hair is darker. You will be able to tell better in my next video.  I look like a cardboard person in this picture!

Terry's hair had a lot of damage from a bad hairdresser.  Di worked on her hair for nearly five hours today.  I WISH I had a "Before" picture for you, because the difference is AMAZING!

I don't know WHY I didn't think to get the front when Di was done, but I did get the back.  NO curling utensil used here, and NO hair dryer.  Di just cut it and wrapped it around a dry round brush.  She was still working on the front when I snapped this pic.  I wanted to show Terry how pretty it was.

We had Rib Eye steaks last night at my house, and Terry made Burritos (she calls them Tacos) for a very late lunch today.  Di would not stop to eat until she got done with Terry.  I was worried she was going to pass out from hunger!  She kept saying she was still full from the steak last night.

We had a very short "play day" yesterday afternoon, and Di spent her time making something for Terry and something for me.  You just can't stop her.  If it wasn't for us, it would have been for someone else.  She never stops helping other people.  Terry and I admire her so much.  We loaded Di up with all our fabric scraps to add to her quilting scraps collection.

Insofar as sewing goes, we still ARE.  Terry and I both just made a pair of pants.  For some nutty reason we did the craziest thing.  She used very stretchy denim to make a WOVEN pattern, and I used a non-stretch fabric to make a STRETCH pattern.  DUH!  I don't know what we were thinking.  She took her pants way in on the sides, and I changed patterns.  Thank goodness I had purchased 5 yards of fabric.  I'll show you our new pants when I can.  Hers are white and mine are yellow.  We are making blouses to go with.

Not much else to say today EXCEPT for one thing.

You know how I get complaints now and then, and they make me feel so bad.

Well the LATEST complaint was that I was good at sewing but I needed to CUT THE COMEDY.  So, I guess I shall have to go somewhere to get a personality adjustment!  Good grief!

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!

Hugs, Joy

Hi Joy and friends! Your hair looks great, very becoming, I too am a retired hairdresser, well not retired fully just from doing hair! It does get hard on the body... anyway I think you're great just the way you are, if anyone doesn't like the silliness then they can watch someone else's blog, there's plenty out there! Have a great weekend and looking forward to your next video.

    Love ya!

  3. Hi Joy, my name is Liz, I am a 60 yr old female who lives in California. I LOVE your blog and your videos! They are very interesting and entertaining and I have learned SO MUCH from you!! You are a wonderful person with a bright, cheery, lively personality, I can't believe someone asked you to cut the comedy, when you are just being YOU and those fun moments you share are some of the best parts of your videos. I though I knew how to sew years ago, but I had not sewn in about 30 years until my son gave me a new sewing machine for Christmas. I have now been sewing every week since last Dec and there is so much to learn and so many new gadgets and techniques, many of which I am thankful that you took the time to show me how to use. I have SO MANY things to thank you for including your kind sharing of the great pattern , which is my favorite blouse and the one that fits me the best. Thank you also for showing me how to use the steam a seam, the ham, the clapper, the hemming, the aplique technique. I LOVED your video on how to use a coverstich machine. i have been very inspired by you in so many ways, to excercise, to lose weight, to stay active, to be positive, to be friendly. I admire you so much for learning to use all that technology you have learned in order to share with us. You have even inspired me to quilt, which is something ive never done. i feel you are very kind and generous with your talents and giving of your time to put all these videos and blogs for those of us you dont even know. I HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY YOU, i have spent very enjoyable hours watching your videos when i cant sleep due to RA pain. Thank you for being so honest and so sincere and for not only sharing your joys but your struggles, it just makes you even more relatable to the rest of us because we can all identify with you, we all have family problems and health problems and you show a positive way to cope with all that. So your sharing is THERAPEUTIC for us too. Please dont stop sharing, I would miss your videos terribly, although i would totally understand if you had to. GOD bless you and your family every day of your life. With much gratitude towards you, Liz.

Thank you for allowing yourself to express the wonderful joy that God put in you. There is a reason He had you named Joy. Don't hold it back! These critics can just turn to another channel! Lol! Praise God!! Rejoice in The Lord Always!!! And again I say ReJoyce!!! Love you, Jan Hanks

  5. Joy, your hair looks great. And if Terry's looks as good from the front as it does from the back I'm sure it's the best cut she's ever had. It works perfect with her waves.

Now, let me have a moment young lady. The anonymity of the internet allows people to say by typing what they would never say to someone's actual face. Think about this. Don't you do this too? Don't you have thoughts that you would love to express but you don't because you don't want to hurt someone's feelings? We all do this. It is human nature. Other than Christ almighty, no one is perfect. If we all changed our behavior to be what other's wanted, we would become immobile, afraid to move or speak at all for fear of stepping the wrong way. However, some of us have more couth than others and keep our traps shut because we are decent people with compassion. So don't you change a thing or worry about petty comments from posters. I follow another sewing blog (Lladybird) where the owner drops the f-bomb here and there and one day an anonymous poster said there was no reason for her to swear so much. Her response was, "Sister, if you're offended by my swearing, you're on the wrong blog. This is me and there's plenty of other blogs out there. Move on." And that was that. Perhaps the poster was trying to be helpful or critical – either way, Lauren wasn’t having it. What I'm trying to say is that the concept is the same. Your subscriber numbers continue to rise. Have you considered that your humor might be part of the reason for that? Numbers talk and BS walks. You be you, the way God made you, and you just plow on through YOUR blog the way YOU want to. When you show weakness by indicating that poster’s comments have affected you, you simply encourage them on and give them power to change you and your behavior. That is unacceptable. Take a page out of Lladybird’s book and tell the commenter to “Move along. Nothing to see here.”

  7. Hi Joy,
I am Josie. I am a frequent blogger, videos too( you got some good ones).I have your blog bookmarked on my ipad. I read what I want and leave the rest behind. Love to read new to me sewing techniques. And, just life from someone' s else point of view. You see, my mom returned to my country of origin. I lost a close friend and sewing partner. So, you and others sewers are it for me. In turn, I am teaching other new sewers who think I know something about sewing.

  8. Hello Joy, glad to see that you are back on form. I always find your blogs/youtube very interesting so keep up the good work. I would like to thank you and Philly (sorry if I have her name wrong) for posting the videos on the round back pattern correction. My friend and I are using the Sure Fit Designs system and have been watching the SFDLC which are very informative and helpful, but it is always very helpful to see others over come a problem. I particularly liked the way in which you approached the measurements and applied them to correct and extend the pattern back bodice to accommodate the extra seam requirement. The even distribution of the pattern makes complete sense and would give a very smooth result. Please keep the humour in the videos its what makes the world go around. You are a ray of sunshine.
NEVER stop upholding the Bible and the name of Jesus Christ in your home! The whole world has lowered their standards, but they are NOT pleasing God by doing so!!
