Foster Grant has come out with the reading classes for the computer. They graduated and around $30. The biggest surprise for me with the surgery is that I was fully awake and no pill before surgery to help me relax. The doctor explained that being awake was safer than being out. If you are asleep, he has to put a shot into your eyeball to steady the eye. I was upset the first time but I guess it was the best way. My vision was not clear the next morning and that too upset me. I was scared that I had lost the vision in that eye but it did return to normal. Best of luck with your surgery. Ask questions, explanations, time of recovery post operative ie, what to expect, if and when something goes wrong after the procedure.
I would inteview at least 3,4 experience surgeon's. What to ask how many procedures you perform each month, year, what are the results. Do you have a person who had the
procedure similar to yours and is he/ she can spend a few minutes to talk to you.
I personally have not had the surgery. However, I help my mother when she had the procedure done in Hawaiin not the best place.
Josie RN

Thanks for sharing, hope you read this. I hope you read this. I'm sure he couldn't care less as he is booked solid all the time. There are lots of doctors near my other home, so I am going to try up there to find a nice doctor.
Hugs, Joy Joyreehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07390642536034678604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290267670853809795.post-58602292092827646982016-03-02T22:24:31.767-08:002016-03-02T22:24:31.767-08:00Hello my Joyful Joy,

His options were, farsighted implants or the super high tech costly implants. He chose the farsighted implants because his doc said the high tech style were more difficult for night time driving. The glare from the oncoming headlights is largely complained about. He still plays baseball and was greatly concerned that the ballpark lights would have the same glaring effect while trying to catch a ball!! So glad the doctor warned us! You may want to remember to ask about this specifically. Also, if they didn't tell you, in about 2 years, you will most likely have to go back for a "one time" laser clean up. Something the body produces however once they go in with the laser, it never forms again. Good questions to have in your pocket if you interview another eye doc! (We interviewed 2 in our area) Best of luck and you are in my prayers! ~jolene Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09572682500240105625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290267670853809795.post-33287941044992469012016-03-02T19:58:37.709-08:002016-03-02T19:58:37.709-08:00Hi Joy,

I was a contact lens wearer for 30 plus years and near sighted.
I paid the extra and got accomodating lenses so that I dont have to wear glassess at all any more - I am so happy with the result. The results were instant and colours much more vibrant.
I would recommend that you do your own research and consult another eye doctorJanQhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03434865348851356691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290267670853809795.post-41013465558516775682016-03-02T19:26:59.977-08:002016-03-02T19:26:59.977-08:00This doctor is not to be trusted with your preciou...This doctor is not to be trusted with your precious eyesight. His lack of professionalism is appalling, and his saying he can tell you are "high strung" is insulting. i had cataract surgery almost 4 yrs ago with my severe nearsightedness and astigmatism corrected with intraocular lens implants. It was the surgeon's call as to what lenses he would use and ultimately corrected for long distance vision. There was an optional lens choice called "Toric" that corrected for distance and had a bifocal, Mono nor the Toric option was appropriate for me. I did understand that Medicare and my supplemental ins paid for the standard lenses, but the Toric were not as they were something unnecessary when the standard lenses were sufficient. I do use reading glasses 2.5 power and have been happy ever since.. i know everyone's situation is different,, but this doctor is too lackadaisical for me. Ask your friends for their experiences, and find a dr. with whom you are comfortable. You need a second opinion in a more respectful way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8290267670853809795.post-29274180592505564362016-03-02T15:41:09.025-08:002016-03-02T15:41:09.025-08:00Hello, Joy. Find another doctor. If one of your friends liked their doctor, use those references and recommendations. I have not had the surgery, but my sister has. She went with the Crystal Lens (may be called something different now) that enables her to see close, far and anywhere in between. She is very happy. I love your blog. I had cataract surgery several years ago and was offered the same options, mono, farsighted ( use reading glasses) and nearsighted (glasses for far vision). I chose nearsighted because that is what I have been all my life. I've never been sorry. I didn't want to have to relearn something new especially when it involves my eyes. The one down side is I still have to buy prescription glasses to wear and they are not cheap. The doctor was surprised and told me a large percentage of his patients choose farsighted correction. I wear readers for very close work and wear glasses for driving and watching tv. The reason I wear glasses at all is that I was extremely nearsighted and my dr did not want to over correct which is very hard to deal with. I would suggest that you find another dr. One who you feel comfortable with and who takes the time to "treat" you like a patient. Good luck. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
