Undershirt Redesigned and Rollercoaster

I have spent the morning revising my Surefit Design Blueprint for a KNIT top.  I have a whole lot fewer revisions to the SFD pattern system when I use woven fabric.  I have made lots and lots of blouses using it and L O V E the system.  Just want to be sure -- if anyone was to ever read this besides Phylly -- that the issues I am having here are because I am using KNIT fabric.

Totally off subject, but that guy reminds me.  Do you have one of those steam irons that has the separate tank of water?  OH MY GOODNESS!  It is the best iron I have ever used.  My husband loves it for his jeans.  Is it Rowenta?  Probably.  At my other house, so I don't recall right now.  Just saying -- if you are going to sew -- get a good steam iron!

Okay.  Here is the blueprint of the FRONT after I made necessary revisions to it this morning:

Self-explanatory.  My friend, Patricia, from Perfect Fit and Sew (?) invented the length addition through the bust area.  Brilliant!  At least, she is the first one that ever showed it to me.

Now here is the back.  Looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame, and I really don't look like that.  I'll put a sideways pic of myself and you can tell me -- wouldn't want for you to see any side of me right now.  Still in my jammies -- which are really not jammies, but....  Here is the back:

Next, I will find some knit in my stash, and I will make up another "muslin".  AFTER I get showered and shaved and dressed in something more picture-worthy.

You know what "they" say:  A picture is worth a thousand words.  I took some pictures of my profile.  I don't know why I never noticed this before.  Well, it is probably because there is always a large puddle of fabric in the middle of my back.  The tee I am wearing in the next two pics is a store-bought tee.   Hmmmm, that curve reminds me of something .....

Gotta break for lunch.  Maybe a stiff drink.  Just kidding.

Hugs, Joy

  1. Did the stiff drink work? If it does I'll have to try it! I think you need to increase the size of your upper curve alteration. That is what the slit in the back shows you. I know when I get that alteration right I don't have a problem with the shirt pulling back.
