I was appliqueing all of this just to cover a 1/2" hole in the back of this garment.
This is a way of sewing over applique pieces that DO NOT RAVEL. If I was doing this on cotton, I would be satin-stitching and totally covering the edges of the applique. I don't do that free-motion either. If you didn't mind a little raveling, however, you could do it this way. You could even use a straight stitch instead of zig-zag.
The "paper" underneath is a very soft paper-like material that also completely washes away in water. I say in the video that it doesn't wash away, but it does. I have another product that is called wash-away, but it only gets softer in water. I don't know the name of this one, but it is REALLY nice!
Very hard to photograph red-on-red. Hope you get the idea.
Remember to use WASHABLE Markers that wash-away in the washing machine. To be extra cautious, spray and soak with Spray-N-Wash for awhile. I use Crayola brand, and I've never had a problem with them not coming out. But try to mark lighter than I did. I was marking on plastic here, but I mark all the time directly on fabric too. Good idea to always test to be sure.

I've looked into them and they have it all (blouses, pants and dresses) Do you use SFD for anything other than your blouses and if you've tried them, do you like the fit as well? I'm looking for a way to get decent fit without spending a fortune going to someone who will measure me and help me create muslins for jackets, blouses and slacks. I appreciate your time and any tips you can share with me and with others out there who share my dilemma.

Hope you can find this comment, as this post was some time back. YES! I have the Pants Kit, the Shirt Kit and the Dress Kit from SFD. I have made garments from all three, and the fit is GREAT from all three. I highly recommend them because of Glenda. She is there to answer any and all questions.

Loved this technique, I have a T-shirt I took the pocket off and made a tiny hole. I liked your idea because it didn't add bulk.
