Two O'clock in the Morning! and SFD Blouse

I fell asleep early around 8 PM tonight while reading the new book called Knits for Real People by Susan Neall and Pati Palmer.

If you sew,

If you sew with knits,

If you ever WANT to learn to sew knits,

GET THE BOOK!

It is wonderful.

Phylly and I already have Fit for Real People and Pants for Real People.  Both are also amazing!

MORE information than you could ever dream of and very well done, as always, in the P&P books.

And I have only read about 10 pages so far!

I woke up at midnight with a cough and runny nose, as I often do.  I sauntered in the dark into the kitchen to find some cough syrup, and I took some of it.  Then I took a couple Aleve because my husband thinks that is a good way to stop my nose from running, and he doesn't like me taking the allergy meds.  He is a Pharmacist, so he knows all the bad stuff about drugs.  I like to take NyQuil Liquigels before bed at night because they get me through the entire night, but he says they have Acetaminophen in them, and that can cause your liver to drop out -- or something!

So ANYWAY, it is 2:13 AM, and I have been awake since midnight.  I think the cough syrup is keeping me awake.  HOW NUTTY IS THAT!?  It is supposed to make you drowsy.

I made a short video this afternoon showing you the Sure-fit Designs blouse I tried to make a new "style" out of.  It has some bagginess in the upper chest which I have since remedied in the paper pattern.  I will try it in a little different version tomorrow using the blue butterflies.

I don't know if these things are called "tucks" or "pleats".  Neither term seems right.  I may try vertical pleats in the next version.

I went down TWO DOTS for this blueprint.  I like the fit right now, but I better not gain that weight back!

Good thing Jerry isn't here tonight.  I would have to leave the bedroom.  Fortunately, I don't have to, so I think I will read some more of that wonderful new KNITS book!  Maybe I will get sleepy again.

Hugs, Joy

  1. I think you could call them either tucks or pleats. It is your top; call them whatever you want to call them.

Marta isn't in the book? What happened to Marta? We love Marta! I may have to cancel my pre-order from Amazon and order it from P&P. I don't know if I can wait until June! I always wonder if I am doing things right when I work with knits.

Ooh, two dots down! You are getting to be a skinny minney. I am holding my own. Roger came home with an Edwards Chocolate pie Saturday and Rob bought an apple pie and ice cream. All this happened while I was at your house Saturday. I think it was revenge for leaving them at home with the grandkids while I went to your house! LOL All the adults in the house are supposed to be losing weight and they buy those delicious things that just call my name; especially the chocolate pie.

    1. Pati thanks Marta for helping her, but I don't think she is in the book. )-: Maybe she will be on the DVD. There is a new lady: Susan Neall. You will be so excited to see all the really fun things you can do. When I get the butterflies out, the KNITS are coming out TO PLAY!

  2. Joy,
I really love that fabric. The smaller flower print looks good with the small lace that shows. I have been shopping for blouses and it seems that the style now is to have a long shirt tail in the back. I guess it is there to hide the rear end or something. It is an ok look but looks sloppy to me. Being from the south I think you know what I mean by sloppy look. I thought I had come up with a name for that sunflower quilt that you made. But I don't think the word "prissy" is used much anymore. When I was a young girl we said another girl who was showing off too much was being prissy. I wonder if those sure fit patterns would be for a smaller person. I like to sew and even the patterns I buy don't seem to fit just right. I'm 5' 2" and weigh 113. When I decided to sew because it seemed like clothes off the rack had to be taken in or up I thought sewing would be the answer. But lots of these patterns don't fit well either. They only have a little place on the pattern for altering for the length. Anyway have a great day.

    1. Charlotte,
You would LOVE the Sure-fit Designs system. Go to Sure-fitdesigns.com when you have some time and watch Glenda explain how the system works. Not only does it work, it is FUN to do. That is if you like playing with paper, pens and pencils like I do.

  4. Just a thought but since you went down two dots in drawing out your new blueprint, is it possible to go down two more dots in the upper chest area where you have lost more inches? Congratulations on your weight loss....looking fabulous!

  5. Hi Marianne!
Actually that would make the top too tight under the arm and across my chest. What I had to do was take a "dart" (out of the paper) from the V-Neck to the apex. I'll show it in my next blouse.
    Thanks for the comment.
