Sure-fit Designs Show and Tell

Glenda, owner of Sure-fit Designs (SFD), asked me to send her a picture I took some time ago showing all the SFD blouses in my closet.

I could NOT find that picture, and it was so long ago that I have many more garments in my closet now.

As usual, I got carried away, and I decided to empty out my closet of most everything made using SFD.  I did not take out any of the pants, and I have made lots of them.  I also have many more garments at my other house, and some are in the laundry.

Fortunately, I still had a whole bunch left.

If you are interested, here is my Show and Tell video.  I made every garment you will see using the SFD Dress Kit.  I have made some shirts with the Shirt Kit, but they must be hanging at the other house.

I can't stay long today because I am cleaning my house.

I figure a real good cleaning now will get me through the holidays.


The dogs go in Thursday for a bath and a Sani-cut.  Then I can hug all over them and their soft, clean fuzziness!

    Hi Joy - Thanks so much for showing us your SFD garments. As a lot of your tops have facings, I wanted to ask if you have any tricks for keeping the facings on the inside and not flipping to the outside? Also, are your knit garments made on the serger or the sewing machine? Thanks so much. Steph

      Hi Steph!
      My facings are held in several ways.
      1. Understitching
      2. Steam-a-Seam 2
      3. Buttonholes and Buttons

      I sew my knit garments on the sewing machine, and when I'm sure of the fit, I serge them off.

    Hi Joy - What ever happened to that beautiful coat that you were working on?
    I think it was blue. That is the first thing I saw when I started following your blog.
    I enjoyed watching your SFD fashion show. Anita

      The coat is all done except for a bit of the lining. It is too big for me. I HATE fixing things, so I just put it away. Still have it though.

    Hi joy,I really enjoyed the Show and Tell. You have been very busy indeed. Thanks for sharing. I have meant to ask you in particular over a white T shirt where you appliqued a garland of flowers. How did you do it? Is this woven fabric appliqued on a cotton knit? Did you fuse and what method did you use? Turn under and straight stitch, satin stitch on raw edges...? Keep up sewing and sharing. You are a true inspiration!

      I don't recall the white Tee. I have a pink KNIT tee with WOVEN applique. I have a lime green WOVEN top with WOVEN applique.
      I ALWAYS use Steam-A-Seam 2 on the back, and then I cut out the design I want. I iron that onto the garment. Then I put fusible tear away on the back side of the garment under the applique. Then I stitch around the applique with a tiny zig zag or a satin stitch.
      Hope that answers your questions. I love to do applique. I will NEVER do the turn under and sew kind, however.

      Thanks Joy for taking the time to answer my questions. I plan to use the information to save some of my shirts with these pesky oily stains which
      you discover only after they have been set by the dryer.:-)
