Other than that, I met Phylly for lunch today. I don't know WHY I didn't think to take a picture of the pretty outfit she had on. The pattern was Louise Cutting something -- recently changed to Rain or Shine but formerly a different name. I think the pattern is no longer available anyway. Let me see if I can find it ..... Okay. It was formerly called "Pure and Simple".
And tonight I picked Margaret up and we went for a burger and chat at Johnnie's. We tried to solve all the problems in the world, but we were unsuccessful. )-: We decided to go home and listen to the news about the BREXIT. I watched the usual absurd arguments for as long as I could stand it, and then decided to go do something I enjoy. My BLOG!
I did get a new pattern fitted and ready to cut out today. Jerry is coming to join me tomorrow, so I may not get it done until next week. I will, of course, show you what I come up with.
If you watched my video all the way to the end, you saw Mr. Excitement that came to fix my garbage disposal today. He did fix it, so I am happy for that. I was wishing Diana was here so we could stick his head in the sink and wash it and then cut off that icky hair and put it down the disposal to see if it really worked!!! WHY, OH WHY, OH WHY don't so many people care about their appearance?
Gotta get. Been sitting too much today. Be back soon though.
Hugs, Joy
OMG! Really gross
ReplyDeleteLOL made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThe repairman maybe scruff but your hair looks really nice.
What have you started! I bought some board today and I have started sorting my fabric. I am putting the fabric back into my plastic containers but it is so much easier to see what I have.
How tall and wide are you cutting YOUR boards to fit in the container? PLEASE email me a picture at joymb@sbcglobal.net.
DeleteI would love to see.

I am so excited to tell you about these pins! I started working on "The Great Fabric Organization" adventure several weeks ago - I've been using discarded bolts (free!) from Hancock and JoAnn Fabrics - cutting them down to 7" x 11 1/2". I pretty much have only quilting cottons, so this size works perfectly and allows me to estimate yardage by simply counting the rounds on the bolt. I've been able to put as much as 5 yards (and a little more) on a single bolt! Anyway...I digress... I was also concerned about rusting pins - have experienced the issue in the past... I recently came across a blog post on the subject and she recommended "insect pins". They are double coated with black enamel to prevent rusting! Got my pin order this morning - and think it's going to be just the ticket. Ordered from Indigo Instruments - the pins come in several sizes - I tried size 3, size 4 and size 5. Sizes 3 and 4 are pretty thin and bend easily - would be good for thinner fabrics I think. Size 5 works quite well on the quilting cottons - and maybe size 6 would be even better. They have very small heads - as one would expect for insect mounting pins - but I didn't have any problem with that. Cost is $5 / 100 pins. Worth every penny if it saves even one piece of fabric. Sorry for the extra long post - hope the info might help someone!
DeleteThank you, Linda!
DeleteI NEVER would have thought of those. Will look them up right now.
Hugs, Joy
Joy, you really look nice with this wide, higher, neckline on your blouse. It suits your face:) love your organization, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Joy, I tried to comment earlier, but it seemed to disappear. Anyway, I wanted to say that I felt sorry for the man that you posted the photo of. I know in the past I've been very wounded by peoples comments their harsh judgements. I just feel that we need to be very careful what we do so that we don't hurt others. I hope that gentlemen didn't find out what was said about him or that he never finds out that you took a picture of him and posted it on the Internet. even who knows and loves him could be hurt if they see it. I just think that we need to be careful not to hurt others. And we should keep our opinions quiet and not make them public if it is unnecessary. I know you've been very hurt by comments made by those on your blog and I know you would not want to hurt anyone else. Well, have a good day. I love you dearly and really enjoy your blog and vlog. Keep up the good work.

Dear Jan,
DeleteThere is NO REASON ON EARTH that someone in a business that requires them to go into customers' homes should look like a filthy bum. He is a repairman, and makes really good money. He can take a bath -- wear clean clothes -- and cut his hair and shave. Unacceptable. I own a business. I would fire any employee -- or not hire them to begin with -- if they cared no more for their appearance than that. I WISH I had told that man that. BECAUSE OF HIS APPEARANCE, I will never call his company again. I will call one who has respect for their appearance, and hopefully, the same respect for my home and my job.
Don't agree with you this time.
Hugs, Joy
Dear Joy,
DeleteI think you misunderstood me. I totally agree that a business should speak to their employees about hygiene when necessary. I just feel it becomes personal to the one we photograph and publish their photo. Yes, he should shower and clean himself up. We don't know his situation. I'm glad Jesus does not exclude those who are filthy and vulgar, but was kind to them in spite of it all.
Blessings,
Jan
If any person out there reading my blog can identify that person with NO NAME on his shirt and NO NAME on my blog and only the back of his head, I will tell them exactly what I am telling you.
DeleteThis is my opinion and my blog. If a repair person -- working for payment by me -- doesn't want a poor opinion of his/her appearance, than he/she should attend to it. The slovenly appearance is the issue -- not my opinion of it. Poverty had nothing to do with it. I'm pretty sure he was the owner of the business. We shall have to agree to disagree.
I so want to get my fabrics organized. If I don't see them, I don't sew them. I just keep buying more and more. the process seem so daunting yet very necessary.
