He started out explaining that everyone he talks to recently complains about how DARK the world has become.
People are afraid and worried and don't know what to do.
Well, that pegged me right off the bat! He had my full attention.
Then he quoted the scripture from Genesis where God SPOKE, and there was LIGHT in the DARKNESS. It is really that simple. We have to quit speaking about the darkness, and we must begin shining light into it.
He had a wonderful simple prop. A candle. He had all of the lights turned off in the church, and it was pitch black. Then he lit the candle, and it shined extremely bright and it could be seen from every corner of the building. He had a propane log lighter in his hand so he could continue lighting the candle as needed.
He talked about how ALL the help we need to have light in any situation is in the Bible.
Say you are having marital problems, and the preacher tells you to go to the Word and read that a man is to love his wife as Christ loved the church and be willing to die for her. You go to watch Dr. Phil on TV instead.
POOF! The candle went out.
Say you are having problems with your children, and the preacher reminds you of the scriptures that say you must TRAIN up a child in the way he should go. You decide to watch Dr. Spock (?) instead.
POOF! The candle went out.
Say you hear that it is okay for same sexes to marry, but the preacher directs you to the Word that says marriage is between one man and one woman. You decide to believe the latest acceptable trend according to the world.
POOF! The candle went out.
So simple, yet so many can't see it. We must be the light in the darkness, and only truth can dispel lies. The more we speak it and the more we live it and the more we teach it to our children and the more we love one another, the more the light will shine and dispel the darkness.
He said it SO MUCH BETTER than I am saying it. I have sent an email to JHM.org to find out if we will be able to look that up and watch it again on their website: www.jhm.org I looked for last Sunday's sermon just a bit ago to see if they were saved, but I could not find it.
Last night was a wonderful ending to my birthday. Jerry and I had dinner with my loooooooooooooooong-time friend, Deanna, and her hubby, Robert, who I call my Teddy Bear because he is as cuddly and cute as one.
We met at Longhorn Steakhouse and the waiter wasn't good or bad -- he was just a waiter. Nothing special, except he did bring me a free dessert because it was my birthday. Only one spoon though, so the others had to eat their part with forks. We didn't even ask for Jarrod. The second Deanna and I saw each other, we started talking, and we didn't quit until our husbands had us packed back into our car seats over two hours later! We seldom get to see each other, so we have a LOT to talk about. Robert kept teasing Deanna as she was talking to me, and she told him several times across the table, "Your ass is grass, Mister!, and when we get back home, I'm going to MOW IT!!!" He just laughed at her and whispered something to Jerry.
That's Robert with the mischievous look on his face, and my friend, Deanna, in another
pretty SHEER blouse.
pretty SHEER blouse.
I don't know WHY I decided to stick my boob in her armpit for this picture!
I seem to be in the dark ages -- as usual -- with my wardrobe, as I don't own a single sheer anything! Nope, not even a nightgown. Are you kidding! I just told you it is my 62nd birthday. Who wants to SEE 62-year-old skin and various other elderly parts!
The second I am done with this post, I am going to Gorgeousfabrics.com and I'm going to buy the prettiest sheer I can find. It will probably be on sale because it is last year's look. Leather and fur will probably be all the rage next year, and I'll be wearing sheers! Oh, well. You can't say I look like everyone else!
Hugs, Joy

Pastor John Hagee on Obama
Message to ALL Christians in America from Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio Texas.
Greets to all of our Salt Covernant Partners and friends across the nation and around the world.
First, I want to express my profound appreciation to President Barak Obama for doing what all of the Republican candidates have not been able to do for months: he unified the Bible-believing church in America in one week over the issue of abortion.
When the President ordered the Catholic Church to provide contraceptives to prevent the birth of new life, he hit a nerve in the heart of every true Catholic and Evangelical.
Being a politician, he will attempt to compromise his position until after the election and then release the full power of government to force the church to obey the state. Think about this? If he made this bold statement before the election, consider how brutal he will be if he is re-elected?
I have said it before and I will say it again: the election on November 6, 2012 for the office of President is the day of decision for America. Four more years of Obama will bring absolute socialism to America. Our children and grandchildren will never know the greatness of America that we have experienced. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN!
FORTY DAYS OF PRAYER
I am asking the Christians of America to join us in 40 days of prayer for this Presidential election. These 40 days of prayer will begin on September 28, 2012. You can do it individually or in groups but prayer is the most powerful force God has given us to bring our nation back to righteousness. I'll be saying more about his as the year progresses, but mark it on yor calendar and start telling your family, friends, and church members NOW about the 40 days of prayer.
Sincerely,
Pastor John Hagee

If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.
